Kevin and Tom are joined (via Skype) by CEO and Founder of Spicy Horse Games - American McGee, and talk about his new game Akaneiro: Demon Hunters.
wtf I just opened this video and the Raptr client added the game to my collection and thinks I've played it for 7 mins. How does that even work and why is the client snooping around which videos I'm watching?
@mav_destroyer That's actually a good question; I had Raptr do the same thing, though only the Raptr team would have answers. I'll see if I can find someone at Raptr and ping them about it.
@Kevin-V @mav_destroyer guys, I'm a product manager at raptr.
for web games, there's no executable to launch, so in order to get around that the client detects text on the web page that would imply you're playing the game. sometimes it works well, sounds like in this case it doesn't. sorry for the confusion.

for web games, there's no executable to launch, so the client does its best to pick up on web page text that indicates you're playing the game.
my best guess is that in this case, the client think you're playing the game when you're really just watching the video. sorry for the confusion.
Hahah, I'm an American living in China right now...
American's idea for BaiJiu (Chinese liquor) racer is hilarious! I wonder if it's ever getting made? I'm more interested in that game than this Akaneiro game quite frankly.
It looks like a fun action game but I see no 'Role Playing' to call it a RPG.
A skill tree and swords/monsters are awesome fun and all but Baldur's Gate is an RPG. The Diablo series (and this really is a Diablo type game) are action games.
Kevin showing his Assassin's Creed tattoo, he must be preparing for his KILL!
@eol_is The political way of not angering the "DA2 isn't a bad game, it just plays different than DAO" crew without saying the simple fact that it's a pile of greased stool.
dark souls is more akin to metroid than zelda.
prince of persia 2008, okami (and its sequel)... and i even managed to get baten kaitos brought up (even if Tom misread my name D: ). so many good games being brought up during the stream.
Great show Kevin & Tom!
I'm a huge fan of American McGee and the Alice series. Was happy to see some exposure to the gameplay and hearing McGee talk about the game was very informative. I'll definitely have my eye on this one
"there needs to be more card-themed weapons in games"
@Kevin-V - i assume you love baten kaitos? :P
@eol_is not really. i used to hunt down games that take 40+ hours. nowadays, i'd rather have a shorter, more condensed experience.
it all depends on the game, of course, but sometimes games can start to drag, and you get tired of it before you beat it. i've noticed that with a few games this year.
@BrunoBRS @eol_is One gets tired of the game before it ends because simply, the game isnt that good.
If its too long or too short is only a consequence of the quality and your taste, if the games is terrific, and you dont get bored of it, wouldnt you want it to last a long time?
Unfortunately most games this days just make themselves longer with mediocre fill-up content.
@BrunoBRS i know what you're saying, but these games are built to last. I, for one, split play time for such long games with breaks of shorter, more fast-paced ones. And so, a game like that lasts months on my hardware before i let it go.
Even now, i'm split between a few drawn-out games, going back and forth, slowly advancing the stories, and it feels good. It feels like these games were worth it. I'll remember them years from now because of the time i've spent playing them, unlike those 4-hours flythroughs.
Oh, so i understood it wrong. It's not that the game is long, but that specific parts of the game are prolonged more than they should.
I can see how some things can become annoying, affecting the overall feeling.
@eol_is i think that's what they were pointing out when they said people don't like games that are too long. there needed to be some trimming and editing (like the process a movie goes after production is over), and they didn't get the time to do it, so people complained that the game (more specific, individual levels) lasted too long.
Doesn't look too bad. I like the art style. Just concerned if the game will have any lasting appeal. So far, it looks pretty cool.
Looks like Okami and Diablo had a daughter. I loved both Alice games A LOT, but this doesn't look like I'll get it.
