An awesome game, but has some drawbacks.

User Rating: 8.5 | Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper PC
Okay, it's been a while since I played this game, so things are a little foggy, but I remember key points, so bear with me.
I love Sherlock Holmes and most modern-day stories inspired by it, like House, Lie to Me, etc. Awakened was a bit outdated for my taste, so I got this. After playing JtR, I might pick up Awakened after all.
This game's coolness factor is what makes it so fun. Jack the Ripper faces off against Sherlock Holmes. For me, it can't get much better than that.
The puzzles can get nearly impossible, so I had to check online a bit. This probably stems from another problem the game has. The characters basically say what needs to be done, but I don't recall there being an objective screen. So if you miss it, you're out of luck. Also, the characters give hints, but sometimes they are a bit too subtle.
The characters also narrate, in a way. It can be hard to follow them, and about halfway through the game I was completely lost. I caught up right before the end though. ;)
The city is like a labyrinth, and I wish they had marked objectives on the main map or made a mini map. I got lost quite a few times.
The last problem is the graphics/glitching. The graphics could have been a little better, and they glitched out sometimes. The game froze up on me once or twice as well.
This game is really fun, Sherlock and Watson sound like I imagined, the violin when you are at 221B is divine, and examining bodies and making deductions is as much fun as it should be.
I think that if they hadn't held back as much on the gore, it could have been a little more realistic and immersive. The corpses turn into cartoons when you examine them, and it is still creepy, but it kind of jerks out out of the moment. The last corpse you don't even get to see.
Overall, if you like Sherlock, mystery games, Jack the Ripper, or just a box of coolness, I recommend this game.

Random fact: Sherlock Holmes didn't habitually wear a deerstalker. Yes, I knew that before this game. :)
