The game that sparked the next generation for the world of adventure.

User Rating: 10 | Shenmue: Isshou Yokosuka DC
Firstly, before I start this off, I don't mean to critize Gamespot for their review system, but, giving a 7.8 rating for Shenmue was a total dissapointment. I will explain why.

Firstly, before i begin,I would like to say that this game sparked the world of adventure into the next level. In this game, you can examine and look at the most useless things, and yet, interact with them. Secondly, this game is the most expensive game production in history [70 million dollars approx], and thirdly, this game represents the DREAMCAST. Like other games like Halo representing the XBOX, Tekken and MGS representing Playstation, and Mario and Zelda representing Nintendo, Shenmue, along with other games represents the DREAMCAST, which was now ported to the XBOX.

Now, onto the review.

The first thing that caught my eye while playing this game was the graphics/enviroment. The enviroment in the game actually exists in real life, and was brought into a game graphic formation, and for the graphics, for the models, items etc, it was a revolution for the Dreamcast's/Gaming period.

Secondly, the story pulled me in, which kept me non stop on running around different locations. The story is about a boy named ''Ryo Hazuki'', who lives in a tradtional styled Japanese home, with a dojo next to it, along with his father, a maid named ''Ine Sane'' and a friend of his named ''Fuku-San''. In the start of the game, Ryo comes home and finds his home disturbed, with a broken sign at his home, with the main gate open. He walks in and sees Ine-San, injuried and down on the ground, eventually, Ryo goes to see the dojo when he sees his father being interrogated by a man in a chinese robe named ''Lan Di''. Lan Di was asking for a medal that represented some chinese mythic story, on which Ryo's father kept. Ryo's father then refused to give him the medallion, and Lan Di kills Ryo's father, and eventually finds the medallion, outside of the dojo. With his father murdered in the view of his eyes, Ryo abandons all life's goals except for one, to AVENGE HIS FATHER'S DEATH AND FIND REVENGE.

The sound is great. The atmosphere of being in Japan was amazing, with dogs barking, shops opened, and interacting with different people.

The controls make the game easy, depending on if you play it on the XBOX[which I haven't played on] but, the controls on the DREAMCAST is really fitting.

Finally, my final words, I hope this review may have given you some idea on what shenmue is about. If you still don't, then, I suggest you get the game, and try it for yourself, and you will not regret it. If you want to rent it, go ahead, but I guarantee, if you like adventure and RPG, this game must be for your DC.
