Great Action Blood and Gore!!

User Rating: 8.9 | Shadow of Rome PS2
I played this game last year but I thought it was worth to write a small review about it.

I remember I waited for the game to be released from the very first time I heard about it. I love fighting action game and this one was definitely a great one!

The story was not so original but it still had lots of intriguing elements.

The graphics was really good with lot of attention for the particulars and for all the different foes.

The game play is fluent and easy to be understood. Using easy combo is possible to perform various attacks and the fact that you can actually use both arms to defend and attack makes the whole thing more exciting. In fact you'll immediately appreciate the possibility to hold and handle two different weapons at the same time, or the possibility to perform attacks with the shield or the arch.

The move set is good as well, lots of moves and enemies that reacts in a realistic way once hit (of course I'm talking about the mechanics not about the fact that sometimes with the right move you just cut off limbs or heads).

There is a high level of violence and gore that fits perfectly the game (those are gladiators right?) and the fighting systems rather that becoming boring like for lots of other games (seen yakuza!?) it will get better and better.

The game is pretty long and you'll be surprised few times thinking OK now this is over... while... ehehehehe not really.

The only thing I think was a waste of time and that made me hate sometimes the game was the 'puzzle' part with Octavianus (was this his name?). Those parts are just totally different from the rest of the game and you really can't wait to get rid of them all and have the gladiator back.

But for this I strongly recommend this game to whoever wants some real action and why not violence and blood all over the place. You'll enjoy the chance to beat your enemies using their very own limbs!!! :)
