10 years old yet the gameplay is so addictive you could have been playing it constantly since 1996

Ok, maybe not when you consider how advanced Soccer Sims are these days, but the simple 2 Button controls make for a fantasticallly addictive game containing thousands of teams and players to choose from. The fast and action-packed gameplay will distract you from the poor graphics, for example there are only 3 types of players - no fancy photo realistic faces here.

This opens up the way for the immersive career mode where you are given 20 years as a manager or player/manager to take your team to the top, either through just simulating results or playing the matches out. You will also have to manage transfers and balance the books at your club, as it seems ridiculously easy to fall into money problems.

The variety of leagues and tournaments will keep you coming back, however, probably due to the game's age, there is no recognition or history of your achievements in the game's competitions except in career mode.

The game's multiplayer is perfect for two players as, unlike newer soccer game's such as Pro Evolution Soccer 5, it is possible to use the keyboard due to the simple controls, although you will still need a gamepad for the 2nd player as you cannot play 2-player with just a keyboard.

Overall, I still think this game is a classic and a welcome break from the multi-buttoned games of today. If you can find it anywhere, its well worth the £1 outlay.
