Most of the mechanics are well-done, but some blatant issues keep this game from greatness.

Let me just say this before I go any further: I have watched the movie and loved it. Given that, I expected this game to be slightly better than it is. However, it doesn't mean that The World Is Yours falls into the categories of cheap movie cash-ins and GTA clones. There are a few mechanics in this game to keep it just above the threshold.

First off, the story in The World Is Yours is more like a hypothetical situation than a continuation of the movie. In the movie, Tony gets killed at the very end. In this game, however, Tony is able to escape from the hitmen invading his mansion and has to start from scratch in order to climb to the top of the drug ladder. From there, you have to gain territories and eventually get revenge on the people who made your empire crumble.

As far as graphical quality goes, The World Is Yours dreadfully falls short. All of the character models (with the exception of Tony) seemed to have been taken directly from Grand Theft Auto III. When not in a cutscene, the characters, including Tony, will not even move their mouths. Also, the limbs are thin, blocky, and just plain laughable. The environments are alright but you don't have to look very hard to see some issues. Some entrances to buildings are so sloppily put together that you can actually see a small space that goes into nothingness. The only redeeming thing about the graphics is that it won't mess up the frame rate when there's multiple enemies on screen.

The largest problem with this game is the shameful amount of advertising. Bodog has so many advertisements in the game that I wouldn't be surprised if they made the game themselves. You can't really go that far without noticing any advertisements. Sure, it technically doesn't mess with how the game runs but the last thing I want is to be told to watch their mediocre programs or gamble on their site.

Aside from those two issues, the rest of the game is on par. The gameplay is a solid example. Shooting is easy and can be more rewarding depending on where you hit your target. Also, the cuss-ridden lines that spew from Tony's mouth can give you a good laugh if you find gratuitous amounts of swearing funny, like I do. Also, the one-liners you deal out can fill up a special meter called "Balls" when used correctly. The balls meter is filled whenever you shoot an enemy, taunt the enemy while shooting them, do dangerous traffic stunts, or just mouth off to someone when they hit your car. When the meter is full, you can go into Rage Mode. Rage Mode is similar to a God Mode since you'll be invincible, have infinite ammo, increased running speed, and easier kills. Whenever you kill an enemy in Rage Mode your health will fill up to the maximum amount. I guess you can think of Rage Mode as a health power-up and a God Mode wrapped into one mechanic. Other than that, the game pulls off all the generic conventions, such as driving and hand-to-hand combat fairly well.

Overall, this game is just above being a GTA clone, but not by much. I only suggest this game to fans of the movie. If you don't like the movie, you don't like this game. It's simple as that. If you do like the movie, you'll find a little enjoyment out of this game, but that's not saying much.
