Scaler displays nothing that you haven't seen before and does so in an enjoyable yet clearly unfinished fashion.

User Rating: 6.8 | Scaler XBOX
Scaler was a platformer that I picked up for cheap because I was in the mood for straight forward 3D platformer. I was very skeptical as to how good it was going to be. Then when I booted the game up that skepticism doubled because the openings presentation was lackluster and sloppy, even the opening menus are boring and very no frills. With that said, the game itself is very reminiscent of the first Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and clank. The graphics fit the game very well and look good enough to function well. Scaler controls very easily and you really get the urge to collect all of the bonus orbs. Even with all of its fun and quite challenging points, Scaler simply feels unfinished. Had the developers taken an extra 4 months to really iron out the story, add for more levels/gameplay elements and pad the replay value this could have been a great title.

This one is really hard to score because I really liked the game but I recognize that it was severely lacking in the content, length, and polish departments. If you have a kid who like platformers, they will love Scaler. If you are looking for a quick 3D platforming fix like myself, you will love it. If you are looking for the next great title on your XBOX skip this one and grab Voodoo Vince or Psychonauts.
