RoM is Totally Free! ^^ Like a mixture of FFXI, and WoW.
Final Fantasy XI is a great game with that awesome Dual-Class (Sub-Job) System, and World of Warcraft is one of the best MMO-RPG to date. Both are Pay-to-Play, but RoM, is almost the same, and it's FREE! If you have loved Vana'diel, or Azeroth, you have to grab your friends and experience what is it like to have all that combined in one, and even more!
The only negative thing I can say about RoM, is that Flying Mounts dosn't really fly... and there's no Fishing at all, but this is a MMO, so it gets updated from time to time! Right now Chapter IV is about to come, it will raise lvl cap to 70, and have new areas, etc...
Like I said many times it's free, so you have nothing to loose!
