A HIGHLY under rated awesome title for the DS that all lovers of Turn-Based Strategy games should get!

Rondo of Swords is a really great game that just didn't get enough attention sadly. This game has you play as prince Serdic, who's kingdom is ransacked and destroyed causing him to flee, but in the midst of it, he is cut down and his double, a nameless orphan that looks just like him, is requested with his dying words to act as him and restore the kingdom. (don't worry, those aren't spoilers, that happens in the first five minutes of the game) You also decide if you want to be bad or good later on which affects a number of things.

The game has a decent length mostly due to the fact of you having to stop every now and then and level up your people somewhat, but the over all game ran me about 50-60 hours thanks to that.

The battle system is a one of a kind for a TBS, mostly because actually PASS THROUGH enemies instead of just attacking one at a time. This makes strategies vast and confusing sometimes because you can't really trap enemies and you can't fully block your weaker characters as well, so this makes the game very hard as you can attack more than one person at a time, as well as your enemies.

As with most TBSs, there are a good amount of characters, but you have to be careful because it's easy to miss some of them due to that fact you have to do things in certain ways and have certain people talk to other certain people. This game also has a few secret missions that can easily be missed, so it is best that you have a friend who knows how to find everything in it, or an online guide helping you.

The game has a linear mission setup much like that of most of the Fire Emblem games making it where there are no free battles, and you can only stop and train by doing a level, killing a few enemies, and then restarting it and you get to keep all of your levels and experience.

Shopping doesn't actually do much in this game because the best items can only really be found on the battle maps, and if you want to shop, it requires you send someone before battle to do it, making it where they can't fight in the battle. You also cannot make them purchase certain items either, you just give them money and an item group to buy from and hope you're lucky enough to recieve something decent, so the shopping system is kind of flawed.

You also can change classes for your characters if you have met the item and level requirements, but this another thing you can easily miss out on.

You get skill points for killing each enemy, which you can then use to obtain and upgrade skills for battle.

The graphics are pretty good, atleast when you are fighting anyways other than that they average all through out the game.

The sound and music is alright, but you only get TRUE voice acting in a couple of short moments, and even then, they aren't very good.

This game also can get VERY hard sometimes, but other times it can get really easy making it a little unbalanced.

Overall, this game is really fun, but there are still a few flaws (missing out on stuff, shopping) but this game is definitely a must get for TBS fans, especially after it is a under the radar title, so you can easily find a decent deal for it.
