Almost there but in the end not really anywhere near there!

User Rating: 6.5 | Rocketmen: Axis of Evil PS3
Rocketmen: AoE is a cheap vertical scrolling shooter. This is not loaded or actually any solid title in the genre. While it does have a few things going for it, there are hell of a lot more things that are not going for it at all!

More notable things in the game are a Weapons variety which is not bad considering the caliber of the game, however they have a time limit, you cannot swap weapons and use them later, and most of them really have only specifi use, so there is virtually no room for personal approach to the level.
Also notable is the customization which you can either say is sub-par or really in-depth. This depends on what do you expect to do with the game. I found more redundancy in the over customization. There are entirely too many things to level up, and eventually you will come to a realization that you can just jack up certain main atributes in order to simply plow thru the game.

Graphically i found the game kind of impaired. It is a nice attempt at a comic book look, sort of to signify that it did come from a comic, but clipping, shaky edges, and terrible movement animation dont let you enjoy or even pretend you are playing a comic or a comic based game.
In addition i had some problems with seeing the "action" based things for 1st few hours of the game. The screen moves too fast ahead and also from time to time it is VERY hard to tell whats static and whats interactive.

Not everthing is bleak though. Comic relief in the game is pretty decent. While the facial/physical humor due to lack of any and all expression of characters is completely misunderstood, you will laugh at sarcasm and irony loaded cliche lines.

Also the game is super easy to pick-up, play and beat on that note, so thats a plus. Somewhat of a reply value comes from one of the most annoying things in the game. If you dont keep your eyes 100% peeled you will move just enough (read, barely) in a wrong direction and miss multiple rooms or some important side stuff. Most of the time you cannot go back, so there goes your 100% level completion. I couldnt figure out if this was to force me to play again or just some bad programing.

All in all, if you are really bored you might buy this. However, comedy and few decent character designs cant save this from being a very mediocre game!
