Very simple.

River Raid is a scrolling shooter videogame released by Activision for a bunch of consoles back in the 80's. The player controls an airplane in a top-down view over a river and gets points for shooting down enemy planes, helicopters, ships and balloons. The graphics are incredibly simplistic, even by 80's standars. However, the game is randomized, so you can't simply memorize where the hazards are and master them. This brought about hours of extra enjoyment. Your jet also runs out of fuel extremely quickly. However, you can fill your tank by flying over fuel-stations that are scattered throughout the level. You control the plane by shifting from side to side, or speeding up & slowing down. The plane is always facing up, and you can't stop the screen from scrolling completely, or turn. You also can change the altitude of the jet. There are also bridges you can destroy.
