Another half baked port for XBLA or a classic?

User Rating: 9 | Rez HD X360
Rez HD is a port of the Dreamcast game Rez, with up-scaled graphics and the small price tag of 800 Microsoft Points. The premise of the game is to get to the end of each level by analyzing data. However there are bad guys everywhere (this can get crazy later on) and a huge boss at the end of the level. The shooting is simple, just a click of the A button will destroy most enemies but some need you to hold down the button. You can have a maximum of 8 in a chain and hitting the higher numbers (6,7,8) will result in large bonuses which are incredibly handy in Score Attack.
That leads me nicely onto game modes, there are the standard Rez/Rez HD where you just play through the levels, unlocking them as you go as well as Score attack, Boss Rush, a combination of every level (which is really difficult to get points on) and a tutorial. Most of your time will be spent in the normal Rez HD and Score Attack as they are both highly addictive due to high scores and unlockables.
Graphics are minimalistic but superb and the HD enhancement just makes them even more stunning. Bright colours are prevalent and design in the game is futuristic. The sounds are amazing and the music gets heavier when there are more enemies or when the boss arrives at the end of each level.
Simply put, get this game. This is a bargain for what you get; hours of enjoyment, superb boss fights and intense battle. The level 'Eden' which you unlock after getting 100% analyzation on the first four levels is worthy of the most praise. I actually thought whilst playing this level that this is the best arcade game out to date. The music in the level by Adam Freeland is nothing short of immense and the level itself is as epic as it is fantastic. 800 Microsoft points is all you need for 100% enjoyment!
