Aerosmith has had their popular run of impressive soundtrack CD's which launched in the 1970's. They had appearances in different tours and you'd think that they can do something special in a video game. Midway took up the Aerosmith license for their Arcade shoot em up Revolution X. The game proved popular in the arcade but on the Home Console it was a different story and the same going for the PlayStation and Saturn ports which despite playing somewhat close to the Arcade version.

The plot is that an evil organization known as the New Order Nation has taken control over every forms of entertainment such as Newspapers, Movies and Video Games and it's to you and a friend to take down the organization along with their leader Helga and rescue the Aerosmith members. The plotline is ridiculous to say the least, Why would anyone ban any form of entertainment unless some of them were bad? and the quote of the game is "Music is the Weapon" which sounds really cheesy.

Revolution X is your standard On-Rails Shooter where the game moves forward where you'll blast your way through 6 Levels shooting at the same green jacket guys on each stage but least the game adds new enemies like Natives and Ninjas but it's the same on each stage and that gets incredibility boring just blasting endless waves of enemies each stage unless you'll blow up several pieces of the environment so that the game moves on. Somewhere in the Levels you find Dancers but to rescue them you gotta shoot them or shoot their cages to free them but there's Luck involved in rescuing them and the same goes for finding Aerosmith members which are well hidden in the Levels.

You'll blast endless enemies with your standard Machine-gun which has Infinite Ammo and no Temperature Gauge which means that you'll keep firing at everything in your sight. You also have CD's which you can launch at your enemies and launching CD's in crowds is sort-of amusing when they can take down possibly groups of them. You'll accusingly find Power-ups along the way like a Super Machine Gun and Fiery Laser-Discs.

Through the Gameplay is the same they had still not added Light Gun support especially when this console has the Konami Hyperblaster (Justifier in Other countries) to use or Mouse support which is bummer. You're stuck with the controller's slow Crosshair which probably takes time to used too, but even if you do get used to it you'll be unavoidably take plenty of damage so it won't be a simple task to go through the whole game in a single shot especially when you're trying to rescue Aerosmith members. The game will last about 45 Minutes in total and you invite a friend to play together and share up to 20 Credits in between 3 Difficulty settings. If you dare to pick the game up at any price then you'll be extremely disappointed especially when this game has no Light Gun Support.

Aerosmith's concept this time looks better then it did on the SNES or Mega Drive systems and look closer to the Arcade version. Character sprites have better animations, explosion effects are still cheap along with the Blood. Sound effects are somewhat passable but the soundtrack from Aerosmith is the main highlight of the game's presentation with it's well done tunes.

After it's release on SNES and Mega Drive systems it's still difficult to recommend a purchase on the Home Console since the game will only last around 45 Minutes. This game comes a little close to the Arcade Version but this concert with Aerosmith still lacks Light Gun support and it's over before you'll know it.

The Pros:
1. It plays at least closer to the Arcade Version
2. Launching CD's into crowds is sort-of amusing

The Bads:
1. Still no Light Gun Support
2. Rescuing Hostages is still a pain to accomplish and you'll still need to be lucky to rescue Aerosmith members
3. Shooting endless waves still gets boring fast
