The mobile version of Millionaire pulls no punches when it comes to pushing the player’s knowledge. It's every bit as addictive as the prime-time offering and it really does a nice job of capturing the get-rich-quick frenzy of the original.
Millionaire is literally the same as the TV show (sans Regis Philbin’s perma-grin): you’re given a question with four possible answers. Guessing the correct answer moves you to the next prize level until you get the million-dollar question. One wrong answer ends the game, but answering certain questions correctly guarantees a minimum cash prize. Cosmic Games wisely adds the disclaimer, "Remember, no prizes are awarded for winning," before each game to prevent angry contestants.
Everything is "live," so fresh questions are downloaded at every major interval. The first set of questions is pretty straightforward. The best example is, "Who was not one of Christ’s original disciples? A) Thomas B) Matthew C) James or D) Urkel." However, the questions become more intricate once you cross that $1,000-guaranteed line. Like, "What is the characteristic feature of a cuckold?" or "Who was president during the Louisiana Purchase?" The variety of questions during the easier levels is limited, but the higher dollar amounts mix it up well.
Generally speaking, the mobile Millionaire is much more accurate than the mobile Jeopardy!, from the character of the multiple choice questions to the graphical feel of the game. Millionaire also keeps the lifeline concept, so you can dial a "digital" friend, poll the audience, or eliminate half of the answers to win.
Fans of the Millionaire show will be quite taken with this title--and even if you hate Regis, this game is a good bet for trivia lovers.
