It's a great upgraded version, except the voices and it could also has a little more of the new things.

User Rating: 8.2 | Resident Evil GC
One of the best games I've played in my whole life was RE on PS1, now I gave the upgraded version of RE a chance on GC!

I thought everything would be the same except the graphic and maybe some few more rooms, but I discovered it have plenty of new rooms. I want to say that I usually don't play games more than once, but the original on PS1 and also on PC I played through many times, because it was so great.
And now I have just finished the GC version. I wanted to play the RE on GC because I missed the big mansion "I used to be in" - when I was 12-13 years old.

Everything is the same, but the graphic is ofcourse a lot better, the great story is the same, except that I never read anything about "G-Virus", now it all was about "T-Virus". I mean "T-Virus" came first in the second game, G-Virus was the virus the older version of RE had. So that's just one thing I don't understand with the remake... But except that the
story is the same, and is totally perfect.

The Story:
It's a big mansion a long way out in the forrest, and nobody has reported from there on a very long time, because a lot of people works there, the police believe something is wrong and send one group to the big mansion.

A little bit from the mansion, the police members called S.T.A.R.S get attack off very, very strange dogs. (You can see blood flow from there teeth and their bones sticking up from their bodies.) One S.T.A.R.S member dies immediately, and all the others run so fast they can to the mansion and finally, the very last second reach the mansion, where they think they safe.
Ofcourse, without knowing whats waiting for them in there...

And here it's where the horrible story start, from the first start of the game it will turn to two different directions, because it depends on wich character you choose to play with. You can choose between Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine.

Chris starts just with a knife, but he's strong and can take much damage before he dies. Jill starts with a Beretta with a full magazine (15 rounds) and one knife, but she can't take so much damage like Chris can do.
Now it turn directly to two different directions.
An example:
We say, if you start with Jill, -Chris Redfield has disappear. You and your team member Barry goes in to a large dinner room to search for him. Soon Barry finds out there is blood on the floor... Barry want to check more on this and you as Jill going in to an another room with a corridor in it and some locked doors, and now a little suprice will show up, and the first time I played it I was scared like hell!

How longer you pass through the game, you will soon understand more and more whats really has happend with this big mansion.

All the letters in this game that you find is very intresting to read and some of them is also really frightening just to read... The other games in the series is just intresting to read, but never become frightening...

Resident Evil has a perfect balance of everything!
Here is some few exemple:

+When you least expect something will happened, something will scare you like hell... (It has a little more of these sudden things here on the GC version, but it could be a little more...)

+The background music and how the enemies sounds is totally perfect and all this sounds give the game a really horror atmosphere...

+All the puzzles in this game is really funny...

+When RE came, for the very first time, in PS1s earlies days, you had never meet enemies like this before in a game...
Big hairy spiders, zombie dogs, a big snake, zombies, crows and a lot of more enemies who even are more scary and dangerous to meet... Now on the GC version they will look a lot more "real"...

+ The game become more and more frightening how longer you come trough the game.

+ The game has different endings...

But this upgraded version has a very big "minus" that the older version didn't had: The voices on the characters! I tell you, it has one of the worst voices I ever have heard in a video game! I can't understand how Capcom could let these persons, however they are, gave away their voices to this game! The voices makes me sick! Specially Jill's voice, Jill was my number one favourite RE character before, but after I played the GC version, the extremely bad voice she has in this version maked her place lower.

But it has the best story in the series and has a great mix of horror, adventure and action. If you never have played the RE on the older days it's worth to play this game, but if you allready have played the older version it's not necessary to play it, it just has todays graphic...

RE on GC is a good upgraded version of one of the best games in the world, but it could has a little more of the new things, and definitely another voices! But it's still a great game...
