"This game will seriously scare the hell out of you!"

User Rating: 9.3 | Resident Evil GC
Not being much of a Resident Evil fan, I decided to pick this one up and go through a horror-filled experience of what I heard is the best horror game out there. The only Resident Evil game I had played before was Resident Evil: Nemesis, which wasn't that horrifying to me. Once I had heard that Resident Evil was coming to the Gamecube, I right away added this to my "Most Anticipated" list. Surely after I got it, I wasn't dissapointed. The gameplay was new to me, and sure enough it took awhile to get use to. I liked the aiming controls, having to hold R and press A to shoot, really simple. The flaw of it though is the camera angle, which doesn't fit in nicely. Trying to aim properly while the camera is at a bad angle gets REALLY frustrating. Other than that, the controls were easy to master in about an hour or so. The quick turnaround was a nice control scheme, auto aiming at the enemy. What can I say, the graphics are gorgeous. At the time they were the best i've seen, until RE0. The cut scenes were well done, although there is a flaw. During cut scenes it tends to skip at times, which is an error in EVERY REmake game. Not much of a downfall for me, sometimes I barely notice it. The gore in this game is so realistic and...bloody. The coolest effect is shooting off the heads of the zombies, which is very fun. It prevents Crimson heads, which are zombies that run fast and freak the hell out of me! Back to the graphics point, the environment is so horrifying, it will make you think what can happen next. From inside the mansion to a creepy old forest, it surely will freak you out. The sound in the game has a BIG part in the game. It's what makes the game...scary. When walking through a hall and hearing trees hit the windows and crows crowing, it certainly can be very suspenseful. Also hearing the moaning of the zombies really freaks you out, which tells you to get ready and start pulling that trigger! The sounds of the weapons are done well, including the tazer and shotgun. The voice acting was well done also, though it could have been more better. At the end, this game will definetly scare the hell out of you. The replay value is high, as you can try and see how fast you can beat the game, as you are rewarded by doing so. This game is fun and yet challenging, it does have some puzzles that will make you think hard. Overall I must say this is a MUST buy. Even if you think you are tough and will think it's not scary, why not play it in the dark at night with surround sound!
