Resident Evil 4. Yes it's old, but I was feeling a bit nostalgic yesterday and ran and bought a copy at Gamestop for the grand price of $9.99. As a fan since RE1 it's easy to say this is the best in the series and has me ready for RE5. I bought this at launch, traded it in after as I usually do so I don't remember too much. First off the graphics don't look dated at all. They are fairly clear on the PS3, not quite up to God of War II, but just fine nonetheless. The mood is pure RE, and the European backdrop makes for a nice change from the others. There are few things that stand out, several years after it's release. One is the cover system. There isn't one, and that's not a bad thing, this game is fairly difficult, because there really isn't anywhere to hide, Gears 1 did a great job starting the whole "cover shooter", but now it's in every game, and a slow pace can keep you alive the whole damn game. Not so in RE4, you will get caught, especially once you start dragging the girl around. The enemies are varied enough, boss fights are varied and good. All in all there's just nothing I could really do to complain about this game. Moral of the story, if your like me and don't keep every game, look back to some of the greats you haven't played in a few years, and you might find yourself having a fantastic time all over again.
