A chilling and entertaining installment in the popular survival-horror series that actually upholds the horror elements.
While technically the fifth installment in the series, Zero actually steered the closest to it's horror roots since the original. The unison of richly detailed visuals, realistic lighting and shadowing effects and creepy ambient music set the mood perfectly. You'll learn how the viral outbreak really started while taking on sinister mutations and diabolical villains as you progress through the riveting story.
An interesting addition to the RE formula, which should have been retained in subsequent installments, is the ability to switch back and forth between the two playable characters on the fly. They will have to work as a team, one character often solving puzzles so the other can proceed.
The only drawback to this title seems to be the replay value. True to the RE formula, beating the game under certain time limits unlocks bonus weapons with infinite ammo for a faster paced play-through, although the novelty wears off fast.
