This could have been the difinitive wii shooter. Instead, we got this......

User Rating: 4.5 | Red Steel WII
Red Steel is an example of what could had been. Had this game worked, it would may have spared us from the whole "Wii is for casual gamers" label. However, what we got was crappy motion controls, horrible story telling, and bad, sterotypical voice acting.
Let's cover the story: You play as this guy Scott whose fiance is the daughter of a Yakuza boss, and, of corse, she gets kidnapped and you have to go through the roughly 15 hour campaigan to get her back. It starts off pretty sound, but the plot quickly falls apart as different elemts are brought in, from the weird sexual tenssion between Scott and his teacher's japanese pop daughter, to the level where you face this guy who has basically a serial killers paradise, to where you realize that (Spoiler Alert) basically everyone betrays you in this game. Also, once you finally make it to the last level and rescue the chick, you almost seem to forget about here because your master gets killed and his daughter almost dies. The plot stops being what you slaughtered hundreads of guys in the first stages for your one true love to trying to uphold your masters honor. What a croc.
Gameplay: Red Steel has your basic point and shoot style of First Person Shooter that you find on the Wii, but the gun play all and all is fairly boring. What drew many people to this game was the promise of sword fighting, but the motion detection is so bad that your swings rarly register when trying to pull off combos. I managed to spend 20 minutes trying to unlock one friggin useless combo because my swings wouldn't register. There is also this whole deal with "Honor". You gain "Honor" when you shoot the guns out of the hands of opponents or let enemy swordsmen keep their live. Pity the honor points you get count for nothing. Its not like and RPG EXP thing, you just happen to have these useless points.
There are many more problems with this game than what I listed, but I don't really have the time to list them. If you must get this, make sure it is from the discount bin.
