Though drawn out, Red Faction delivers a solid experience

I like older shooters, and am obsessed with the old Quakes and Unreals...so going into this game, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen.
First of all, the fact that you can destroy nearly everything made me really happy. The beginning of the game completely supports this, but as you continue, the whole idea is thrown in the garbage it seems, and you are stuck with straight forward shooting.
The story of the game was pretty basic, and sometimes felt really boring. It was straightforward, and was nothing spectacular.
The areas look great, except for the fact that everything looks alike usually, so a lot of times I found myself running in the opposite direction.
Enemies all look the same usually, but are fun to kill.
The game has points where you think its going to stop...at one point, you enter an escape pod in a ship, in which I think "Oh, cool its over." Next thing I know theres another couple levels! The game just keeps dragging on, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes it gets annoying.
I think its a good game. More shooters should be like this, where the action flows seamlessly (though the load times are long enough for you to go take a dump), the enemies are the same but fun to kill, and all the areas are somewhat different (I'm looking at you Halo).
Overall, a great shooter.
