You are Parker. Sheesh. I thought of Spiderman. You are on mars, miners are get treated bad.Workers rebel. You find out why the miners are dying.U do something about it.The end. Cheesy plot.
Red Faction one of the early releases on PS2. It is quality FPS game and its combines alot of action elements. The end product is well done, but many elements can be improved. It does capture a bit of a film atmosphere.I enjoyed the voice acting. The rest of the story is left up to my imagination. The lonely feeling in the game did not make me feel I am part of a rebellion.Theres a few key moments of interaction with people. The rest of the time, the story is told with messages by Hendrix. There are not enough miners in the game to show this is a big operation.

I really enjoyed the scale and the premise of this game. The weapons are very powerful and destructive to anything and everything.Having 2 modes of fire.Mostly I found myself using the assault rifle/submachine gun and sniper rifles in the game.It is possible to destroy the scenry with rocket launcher and remote explosives. This is something the developers are proud of.GEOMOD technology they boast, which reacts to the player.

But....alas exploring side areas gives no bonuses. I can use 3 rockets through a side route and get no reward, but it always leads back to the main route. No ammo, no exploring. So its pointless. If it was as good as Duke Nukem for side exploring I would agree its great.

I get the idea there are many things are unfinished, and there are many levels that are empty without much opposition.Sometimes the enemy AI is great, sometimes its comical.Guards shout rude at you, then when you wound them they pleed "Don't shoot me don't shoot me."

I am reminded of a level with a giant military robot that is slightly flawed when it tries to follow it gets stuck. Controlling various vehicles is great fun. I'd loved to see more use of that. The difficulty level is unbalanced towards the end, where new enemies make things frustrating.Good effort, but we were promised something original, but its a mixed bundle of goodies.

I give it 8.0. its good but you can live with the little faults it has.
