Over great game but lack of basic 'shooter' game necessities make the game not as desirable to play as the previous game
the online is fun but it lacks a map which makes navigating difficult. Also organization of online mode is horrible and text and icons are too small. It is also very limited, because plaeyers cannot select maps or weapons. There are also no vehicles and too centered around the idea of demolition rather than combining demolition with skill of using guns.
Lastly the biggest reason why this game does not deserve alot of recognition becuase it lacks a BASIC shooter game feature which is a multiplayer split screen mode, sure online is fun but wut if u want to face ur siblings? or if guests come to your house? or what if your friends dont own the game or a ps3 than you can never face them? split screen multiplayer modes are just common sence and the absence of this mode greatly hurts the game becuase multiplayer modes is what made RF1 & RF2 fun. Another missing basic feature is grenades and most specificly the shock grenade from RF2 and firebomb. Gernades help with strategy and show skill but they are not included in the game.
the story mode is amazing with the free roam feature, but i have completed almost half the missions and the story is very linear and no surprises or twists; it almost seems tedious to complete because the end is highly predicatable with no exciting story, although the general concept of oppression on mars and freedom fighters is a good start.
Overall Red Faction 3 is a great game but i am very dissappointed it moved further away from its previous games as a futuristic shooter game to a primarly demolition game. the demolition feature is great but they should have reached an equilibruim between demolition and shooting.
i would definitly recomend this game, either rent or buy for under 30$,, its no where near worth 80$ canadian!
