Who could pass this one up living out in the wild wild west, gunslinger roaming from town to town rustling up the bad-guys. I know I couldn't, and I was glad I didn't. It's a simple story of revenge that takes you on a fun, interesting journey filled with horses, locomotive trains and shooting lots and lots of shooting! You start the game off as young Red the son of a Native American mother and a father who is a gold miner. Red's father just came home from the mountains where he and his partner found a humongus gold vein that was gonna end all their troubles. Then everything turns sour some bandits come to visit and kill Red's family, Red shoots his way out of their and escapes leaving one of the bandits with only one arm left, who you run into later in the game. Then it picks up later down the road with Red as a grown man who is now a lone bounty hunter looking for the gang and everyone else responsible for his family's death. As he uncovers the truth he sees that there are a lot more people involved with the murders than he thought. It was lots of fun reliving the wild west. As you start off the game you go right into a training section learning to shoot, so you pick everything up rather quick, the only problem I had with it was switching between weapons. At certain times I found myself pulling out a knife in a gun fight, it was just that that feature could've been a little better or they could've added the reality of carrying a long gun and a side-arm I believe that could've helped. There was a good amount of gore, in other words when you shoot them they bleed. And it didn't take twenty shots to kill a man. Rockstar did an exceptional job with the enemy A.I., cause when they shot you, they hit you. It was cool watching them shoot and manuever like they were actually scared to get shot and watch them take cover. Since your a bounty hunter each shot you connect with an outlaw earns you some money. Like $2 for limb shots $4 for body shots and $8 for head shots( or something like that), and if you combo it up or kill more than one villain within a time limit of a few seconds your reward is multiplied by the number of bad-guys you kill. So to make money, you gotta be accurate with your shots. And the showdowns, can't forget about the showdowns at high-noon. You stand there staring your nemesis down, fingers twitching over the handle of your six-shooter in your holster. Then he moves and now it's who's the fastest and who's got the dead eye accuracy. That's right there are showdowns, it's a little complicated to explain but it's fun. You also have the Dead Eye Aim. It slows down time and you then go to town Clint Eastwood style on the outlaw's #ss, buckets of fun. The variety of older guns was also fun and each weapon you came across opened a journal page on it which gave it a little decription on the weapon so it kind of gave you an idea of what situation calls for what kind of weapon. Oh yeah the journal, as you play the game there is a sheriff who keeps an eye on his town and everyone who comes across it, in this journal of his. So the better you do in missions the more journal pages you unlock by either purchasing items or weapons or unlocking characters. Each journal page gives you a little history on either character whether good or bad, weapons and locations. This feature adds to the replayability of the game, cause you're not going to get everything in one sitting. The way the graphics were done was original, they kind of gave it that antique, old school, wild west, 1920's era black and white films look. Which kind of made you feel like you were in an old movie. The fun factor of this game, was pretty high like I said before your gonna be playing this game more than once to unlock every feature. They even have a multiplayer mode where you and a couple of friends battle it out in certain scenes of the game. Of course you have to unlock the characters and levels but it's worth it. You don't just run around and shoot eachother, there's a strategy to the multiplayer mode. Each level is a kind of card game whether it be a type of poker or something else. Every time you kill someone you get a card and some cards give you upgrades on your attacks like explosive bullets and fire arrows or poison tipped arrows, and depending on your hand of cards that's how you win. The only complaints I have is that the game was a little too short for me. Just as you start to get into it your just about done. Also the some of the bad guys were just a little too comical for me, like fighting circus freaks, I don't know about you but little midget clowns just don't intimidate me. Oh well I still had fun shooting them. As I hope you do, Great Game just give it a try you won't be disappointed.
