Considering the kind of game it is supposed to be, and the kind of game it is, it really isn't so bad.

User Rating: 7.5 | Rayman Rush PS
Rayman is a limbless, uh...dog-looking hero. He can use his hair as a helicopter(I wish I could do that!) and he usually stars in platform games. His most recent, unfortunately, isn't a platformer. It's a racing game. Staring a mascot. Bad things happen when you add racing to mascot(Sonic R, anyone?). Oddly enough, this game isn't so bad when you consider what it is supposed to be, and what it is. This game, let me say, it the EXACT SAME as Rayman Arena on PS2. I mean EXACTLY. The opening animation is even the same; only difference is that Arena in the title on PS2 is changed to Rush on the PS1. So if you have a PS2, pick up Rayman Arena, it even has a battle mode. But for those stuck with a PS1, listen up. If you liked Rayman 2(or the way it looked on PS) then you won't be disappointed. Many textures and animations have literally been ripped straight from Rayman 2 and inserted into Rush. And it still looks good. Framerate is solid 100% of the time. Although, due to the limited processing power of the PS1, you can only have 1 AI opponent. And only 2 players. Since the levels are the same in the PS2 version, and PS2 supports 4 players, you can obviously tell that the levels are designed to be raced on by four players. And the one AI opponent you face gets pretty easy. even during the later levels. There aren't many characters, stripped from 8 or 9 in the PS2 version to about 5 in the PS1 version. You get your characters from Rayman 2, Razorbeard, Globox, and Rayman, along with Henchman 800 and 1000. The sound is stock for Rayman games. Each character has one reaction noise and that's about it. The music is slightly reminiscent of other Rayman games. But, it's not such a bad game. It does get repetitive and without 4 players, it can seem empty, but when you consider it's Rayman's first outing beyond platforming, it's easily a good game that will keep you busy for at least a few hours. But if you have a PS2, find a copy of Rayman Arena, same game, more characters, there are bonus levels, and a battle mode(and 4 player support[multitap required, sold separately])
