Ratchet and clank is my second review on Gamespot, and I just wanted to give you my general experience with it, basically, R & C is very much like earthworm jim, which to me for it's time was the best platformer of all. this was during the genesis, and snes days, insomniac could teach shiny a thing or two after the piece of crap enter the matrix was, jim had barely any hype ad yet his gameplay told all, this game is very much the same, it came out the gate with little hype, but people adore it because of it's gameplay. For me gameplay is the most important factor in a game, am I enjoying myself? right next to enviroment, sound, then graphics, this game has it all over thirty five weapons, gadgets, they all have a place, puzzles, platforming, rpg elements(you've got to earn those weapons.) when I first popped this into my PS2 I didn't see myself not being able to put if down for a week, it consumed me, i'm a twenty three year old gamer, and I looked past the so called "Cutesie" graphics, and gave it a spin, the same way Zelda, appealed to me, this game is in a class of it's own, you mostly play a ratchet, but there are points when if ratchet went outside space he'd suffocate, so clank gets involved, and I won't ruin any "BiG Time" Suprises, but lets just say, nah that'd ruin it, It's also got great humor, great story, the level design is without equal, each world looks compleatly diffrent, the challange level is there, it is not as hard as dead to rights for sure, but barely any games are, this game is meant to be enjoyed, not to hurt your controller at the wall, on the other hand it is more challanging then Devil May Cry 2, it's not pathetic, and there is plenty of replay value, as there is "Gold" Weapons, that take a lot of bolts to pay for, you could play this game for months, and still find new things, I have, it's without a doubt, my favorite PS2 title, far over GTA Vice City or GTA 3, this game is a masterpiece, and EVERY PS2 owner should own it, 40 bucks? what're you waiting for? And trust me, Going Commando(This games sequel due out in november.) Will OWn All Platformers.. Until the Prince comes to play of course. Thank You.
