A good old Ratchet and Clank game that follows a timelessly fun formula.

User Rating: 7 | Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction PS3
For those who have not played Ratchet and Clank before, it is a game about a Lombax who has to save the galaxy from various enemies with the help of his robot sidekick Clank. This game was the first to be introduced on the PS3 and has done fairly well for itself.

The first thing to note is that the graphics have been upgraded both in-game and during cut-scenes. This makes for some beautiful scenery and even better movies. The intro alone attests to this, showing off instantly the new capabilities of the blu-ray discs. However, Ratchet and Clank has never been about beautiful scenery, it has always been about raw destruction, as reflected by the title.

The range of weapons and the subsequent upgrades, both purchasable and leveled, is huge. His arsenal has grown both in terms of number and quality. When you go into a fight with several enemies and pull out the brand new R.Y.N.O, you have to laugh manically just a little as all of those enemies are reduced to nanobots. The addition of devices add a new element to the game, acting as life savers in dire situations, such as using the leech bomb for health or the groovitron to distract enemies.

The main problem with this game is that it is terribly short. Whilst you do get to level up most of your weapons before the final boss, the only length that this game holds is playing through multiple times to achieve a full arsenal and health set, as well as getting some trophies along the way. Otherwise there is little replay value within this game.

Overall, if you enjoy weapons and lots of them, this is the game you want to go for. If you're looking for a game to consume your time or to suck you in with it's story, then I would recommend looking elsewhere as you won't find it here.
