Just not quite there.

The way I see it, Rappelz is just another free MMORPG. Well, maybe a wee bit better than some of them. But not by too much.

I barely made it past Trainee Island. When I left and started to do some other quests, I realized that the quests I had to do were similar to the ones on the island. "Kill x of y monster." And after awhile, those get very very VERY old.

It's your average MMORPG grindfest.

I like the skill system in the game, it's great for character customization. Even so, I personally think that the game lacks in that area. There are three different races -- each has a basic 'warrior' and 'mage' and 'summoner' class with another job expansion. Honestly, it's not that great.

They describe an interesting story on the main website, but I never heard anything about it while playing. So from what I've seen, there is basically no storyline.

Yes, Rappelz has good graphics. Good, but irritating. Thankfully I was able to set the graphics to medium and turn off those annoying trees that seemed to be everywhere and always got in my way. The environment is too vast for this game to be point and click.

But, something that shocked me about this game was the community. A lot of people are very kind and are happy to help you with whatever you need helping with, being either a simple question or help you kill a strong monster while healing you at the same time. Honestly, it's nice to know there's nice people like that out there, you forget after playing the other thousands of games online and encounter rude and selfish people.

All in all, a somewhat above average MMO, but it does have the potential to one day be better.
