All Quiet on the Eestern Front

User Rating: 5.6 | Rappelz PC
Hardcore grinders and freeloaders rejoice ! We got ourselves a new free to play (but not so free to enjoy) Online game.

Now you could say that a game being *free* would leave little room for criticism but since it is obviously here to make cash it does deserve a review.
Let's start with the usual stuff. Obviously your goal will once again be to level another toon to its max level while literally killing millions of mobs in the process.
Sounds familiar ? I thought so. If at this point you are still interested in knowing about Rappelz I take it that you won't mind that once again the grind has become the content of the game.
What I find specifically funny about cash shop games is that after you have hit a certain level (usually around 20-30) you will start to notice that the game's features have all been carefully tweaked in order to maximize the chance that at one point you will finally give up and buy that blasted Exp multiplier or whatever. This is all fair game of course and I guess nobody would play these games if they had a monthly fee on them.

The graphics themselves are above average but deserve to be rated down because they don't possibly warrant the high system requirements which I guess are a result of lazy coding on the developer's part.
Contrary to that the music and sound in general is enjoyable and for me doesn't leave much room for complains.

Now not everything is bad about Rappelz since even a korean MMoRPG needs to be enjoyable enough so you won't just uninstall it out of frustration.
The skill and class system has some variety to it and although there aren't literally hundreds of options you can still use different builds within the same class without necessarily messing up your character. Altogether, not counting the mutual starter class there are currently 9 classes available while more are yet to be implemented.

Secondly there is the pet system which is a little more sophisticated than in comparable games since your pets won't just be useless sidekicks meant to look good next to your toon. They can be levelled up, equipped, taught different skills, evolved (yes, just like Pokemon) all independant from your actual character. This was one of the features I personally enjoyed about the game. Right now there are only a handful of pets available but I guess there will be more of them implemented later as well as cash shop pets (like I said Rappelz is here for our money).

Rappelz is also the first korean MMoRPG to actually feature dungeons Runs
so if that is what you're looking for, go ahead.
Interestingly these dungeons can also be conquered by guilds meaning that when your guild owns a dungeon you will get a percentage of all the money that is made there.

In the end, however Rappelz will remain another, average cookie-cutter.
Not really a bad game but also not really recommendable either.
Leave it to the freeloader crowd that will play anything as long as it's FREE !!!
