Rampage World Tour is one of those games that's fun at first but then gets very old after a while.

I love the Nintendo 64, really I do. I consider it the best console ever made. But I can't be bias going into my reviews, and even though I really like the concept behind Rampage World Tour, it's just not a fun game.

This Nintendo 64 version of World Tour allows usage of the controller pak and the rumble pak, so you can save your high scores and have a little bit of realism. It's not very often you can play a 2D game on the classic N64. This is the same game as the original Rampage, blowing up buildings, cars, and eating people. I like the explosions whenever a building comes down or when you destroy a vehicle. Eating food replenishes your health, and hitting a flag allows you to try a bonus stage, although these aren't very interesting. Whenever you lose all your health, you shrink down to a naked man (don't worry, you won't see his thing)

One aspect that kills the Nintendo 64 version of Rampage World Tour is its too damn easy!! Are you kidding me?! This was an arcade game, and arcade games are known for being challenging, and you're telling me this game's STILL TOO EASY?! Maybe it has to do with the UNLIMITED CONTINUES!! Wait, WHAT?! Unlimited continues are acceptable in puzzle games (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Genesis), and platformers (Mr. Nutz, Snes), but in a game as simple as this, this is a big no-no! I think three continues would've made this game a lot better. Because of the unlimited continues, it kills of what could've been a great game, and reveals how repetitive and stale this game gets. That said, this is more enjoyable than that stale new Wii version, because it's faster (Who would've thought?). That's not saying much, however. I did enjoy destroying Pittsburgh though (I'm from Cleveland), and I felt horrible when I destroyed Cleveland (more so).

If Rampage World Tour has one thing going for it, it's the graphics. The clay animated monsters look fantastic, and the very fast frame rate is smooth. The scenic backdrops don't look anything like the cities they represent, but they still look beautiful, with a sunset and even a purple sky! I love the explosions and how people turn into goo once you kill them. The audio is a mixed bag. The sound effects are good, but the muffled music is generic and tasteless.

Rampage World Tour is one of those games that's fun at first but then gets old after a while. I'm not sure if the arcade version is any better, but this is for N64 collectors only. Everyone else can safely bypass this very boring game. Had there not been unlimited continues, World Tour could've been something special.
