Fans of the movies and old school Genesis gamers may find value in this game.

User Rating: 7.3 | Rambo III GEN
I love the Rambo movies. I grew to appreciate them more as I got older. The Rambo video games have been a mixed bag. Rambo III is a good game but it definitely could have used some improvement. Rambo III is an early generation Genesis game, which were notorious for feeling incomplete and flashy.

Rambo III has decent graphics. The real show is after certain levels where you have to shoot at a tank or helicopter with your bow. Given the time Rambo III came out, the scaling effects are impressive. The rest of the game, the graphics are about average with nothing real special about them. There isn’t really any memorable music to be heard, though the sound effects take up some of the slack. The explosions and gunfire do add to the fun. Rambo III is a typical shooter where you just blow up everything in sight, but since that is what people remember from the movies, it works well. There is the occasional need to find the right key to open a door, but nothing to mind boggling. Rambo III was one of the first Genesis games to come out and it suffers from what many of those games are afflicted with. These games tend to be quite short and showcases for the 16-bit power of the time.

I may be a little biased toward Rambo III, being a fan of the movies. It is a decent game and worth playing for old school gamers. It is definitely not up to classic standards, but I will always have a special place for Rambo III in my video game collection
