Fun game, with no coherent story.

User Rating: 7.5 | RAGE PC
Rage begins in the year 2029 where an asteroid hits the Earth. The player's character and hundreds of others are buried what is called Arks and in cased in a cryogenic chamber to be woken up at a preset date. One hundred six years later, the protagonist wakes up in his own ark to find out he is the sole survivor and to begin his journey.

Your new life begins when you meet John Goodman and you have to go out to find X item for everyone you meet. Yep you are a delivery boy with a gun and rocket launcher, you get to find every item nobody else seemingly cant get themselves. The very first mission is like this and goes throughout the whole story.

There isn't much of a coherent main story for Rage. Much of the game is doing side missions, like trying to be able to get the towns people on your side to be able to unlock five missions that have any relevance to the main story. Apparently the chief faction in the year 2135 is some kind of dictatorship in controlling the world called the Authority and there is a light band of folks who are trying to resist this forced calling themselves the Resistance. There is very little talk or knowledge gaining in Rage to know for sure what the Authority wants, who they are, who is their leader, or even possibly go to their capital city to do missions for them to gain their trust to be able to understand them. Authority is actually a profound association, seemingly well organized military and assets throughout the world, like a kind of future Roman Empire, too bad there is almost no time spent to really know this really important figure.

The game's general gameplay isn't that hard. Knowing which weapons are best for each situation, along with instant death deathsticks and a defibrillator this game might be too easy for some. As the game progresses, the player would have to be able to replenish ammo supply. The easiest way to do that is by collecting money from dead bodies, enemies or sell collectable items to buy your ammo. Gaining money is easy and there is very little worry in running out of ammo.

In general, Rage is a fun, entertaining game that will last about 15 hours. There is additional content in coop where someone with their friend could play six missions. Another option in stretching game time is replaying Mutant Bash TV a thousand times.
