Lacked Depth, felt some what repetitive, but worth it.

User Rating: 7.5 | RAGE PC
RAGE, published by Bethesda and designed by ID was an incredible aesthetically pleasing game but lacked depth in missions and felt rather repetitive towards the end of the game.

The initial start of the game was amazing, the graphics were just phenomenal and the character design and voice acting was just A grade. You begin by waking up in a time capsule in the future after society, as it was first known, had been destroyed as an asteroid collided with earth. Straight away as your introduced to the games controls, you'll find yourself defending off the games incredible AI, which really impressed me.It was obvious just in the first hour of playing that the game had plenty of hours put into it.

After you find yourself free of the enemy you'll be in a quest with out delay, but as you may find later on in the game, they become repetitive and lack depth; you're either having to drop something off or collecting something, all just derivatives from each other and in truth, it gets boring quick.

The game has a lot of things you can do in it other then missions, such as going outside the safety of the towns and earning yourself some money by killing bandits/mutants/authority and destroying enemy cars. The game is advertised as being free roam but there is nothing you can really do out side the township other what I just listed, you're options are really just the same repetitive missions.

One of the more interesting, fun aspects in the game is Car/buggy/truck racing you're able to race follow citizens of the town and earn points which can then be used to customize your cars Armour, weapons, motors, wheels and Handling which can further help you when racing or doing deliveries.

The customization doesn't just stop at the vehicles. You're amour, weapons and even bullets can be customized to you're missions needs or you preference. Your able to choose whether you want Armor piercing bullets, electric arrows or generic iron ones or even heat sinking missiles, all depends on your weapon some have more options then others.
you can also improve you guns accuracy/ammunition amount etc with upgrades that can be purchased from your towns merchant. Armor is basically the same, you can choose one for speed or more armor.

RAGE was a very interesting game, I found that it needed a better, more in depth major campaign and a much better ending, it felt as though the game was made worse as it went on in terms of campaign and only went for 7 hours in my case (there is plenty of side missions and racing {probably another 10 hours worth}). The game itself was slightly unstable, there was several areas that had FPS spikes causing the game to lag and it always took 3 to 4 seconds for textures to load when exiting towns into the wasteland.

I would recommend this game if you could get it under $40AUD, it's definitively worth it, you'll just find yourself completing the campaign rather quick as it all feels the same but there is many other things you're able to do instead. 7.5 seems a fair score.
