R-type is one of those games that immediately comes to mind when you think of space shooters. Rather than top-down like many others, this one has a side-scrolling perspective. This came can be blisteringly difficult. The stages are full of power-ups, baddies, obstacles, and bosses. The graphics are detailed and move at a fast clip. The music and Fx are out of this world (no pun intended). The biggest complaint that I have is unlike other TG16 games which are priced at $6, this one is questionably priced at $8. This is a must for diehard fans of the genre, because it's one of the finest examples of a space shooter out there. But, if you're looking for bang for your buck, you may want to stick with Super Star Soldier, which is cheaper and longer. However, this is still a stellar title that deserves a purchase.
