What a great little buy!

Quarrel is massively addictive fun for anyone who enjoys Scrabble or similar wordgames. It has bright, friendly interface, good tutorial and the computer opponents range from the easily despatched, which helps you get used to the mechanics of the game, to the mindboggling tough which adds longevity.
The only real way to play though is against human opponents. Unfortunately, the way the game is designed (and I can't really see a way around it to be fair) is that this is strictly online only. You can't play a friend in your living room. At the moment there are not that many playing online which can mean a lot of time sitting and waiting for a match. When you do get a match it's worth it though, unless, as happens often, the other player just immediately quits once you get on top which is frustrating as rather than granting you the win (as it should), the human opponent is swapped for a randomly selected computer one, and if they're one of the top players and have anything like an army left at their disposal, they will destroy you and cost you the win that was rightfully yours.
Also, there are some weird glitches when it comes to words. I wasn't allowed to play 'grapes' the other day for some unknown reason, and it's a bit touchy when it comes to offensive words. The more obvious swear words you can understand (although hey, they are words, and are in my dictionary) but I wasn't allowed to play the word 'crotch' the other day as the game considered it 'unpleasant'. Something made more galling by the fact that the very next anagram was 'cannabis'!
Overall though there are hours of fun in store for anyone who buys this and at the price it's an absolute steal.
