Every modern FPS owes it's existence to Quake

User Rating: 10 | Quake II PC
I love Quake, I like Quake 3 and 4, but let me tell you that I love love love Quake 2. I don't want to say that it's better than Quake 1 because I love Quake 1 so much, but it's better than Quakes 3, 4, and that poopy MMO one all put together. Quake 2 is better than Quake 1 if you don't count the nostalgic value of Quake 1. Quake 3 is alright but the single player mode is lonely and shallow if you ask me. Quake 4 is good but it's not magical or mysterious like quakes 1-2 are. Quake poopy MMO is just bad and I don't like it. There is no Quake 5 yet but this whole "outer space" thing is getting overused (although it was still fresh in quake 2) and I hope that Quake 5 goes back to the Quake 1 style. Quake 1 on the Sega Saturn was the weakest port of Quake 1 and Quake 2 on the ps1 was the weakest (although more accurate to the PC version if you ask me) port of Quake 2. I think that my favorite build of any Quake game was Quake 2 on the Nintendo 64. It's odd, but for some reason I just really really love that version. The free version of Quake 2 that came with the xbox 360 version of Quake 4 was also perfect. Anyways as far as the PC and MAC versions go, the levels blend seamlessly into a full and rewarding game completed by countless secret areas mindless action and gallons of liquefied strogg drippin' from yer boots. The only reason not to play Quake 2 is if you like Quake 1 better, and are still mad that they changed the style so much cos they're very very different although at the same time they're similar as could be. I want to go play Quake 2 right now but my roommate is using our last functioning xbox 360 to play Modern Warfare. I don't have my PC running right now, and if I did it probably wouldn't be running cause it's a poopy old gateway. I like Mac, Apple computers are better than windows in every way (other than games) but the games that are on both mac and windows are better on mac every time. Did you know that DOOM was developed on NEXT computers? (unless I was lied to) and NEXT computers were a product from Steve Jobs? (that Apple guy) Either way I have just about every version of every Quake game ever made. I have Quake 1 on PC, MAC, N64, and Saturn. I have Quake 2 on PC, PS1, N64, and Xbox 360 (no mac version so please send me one). and I have Quake 3 on PS2 (no Dreamcast, Mac, or PC version send them all) I have Quake 4 on PC (works with intel mac) and Xbox 360. Don't have the other new Quake but also don't want it too much. Best ones are Quakes 1-2. Love them so so so so so so much. The box art is also real real good. on Quake games. I am only reviewing Quake 2 for now, it is good. Good outer space kill fest. The game is so good, it makes halo look like buttcheese even though halo has better graphics and it's all fancy and new. I think that Quake 2 is great very good better than Modern Warfare, although not as realistic. Quakes 1-2 are magical and dark and the stories are all hidden and mellow and the game focuses on gameplay and there is no ridicules cut scenes or poopy voice action or Elmo and and and I like it better than ice cream.
