Engrossing, but enraging.

There is a lot more to do in this game than the previous Puzzle Quest, but it seems like it would take about three years to become the master of the hexagonal battlefield. Already ten hours into it, I haven't even scraped the surface, having spent most of my time getting angry at the random gems that seem to almost always work toward the opponents favor during battle. The rest of the time, it seems like the strategy needed to put into the mini games becomes so dull that it's hard to care. I like the currency gathering system; it harkens back to Escape Velocity with the mining & searching for planets that pay more than others. That's neat, but it bothers me that the leap gates sometimes breakdown and then you have to tediously re-hack them. All in all, it's fun, but it's like having a job rather than playing a game.
