Football Manager 2007 (Worldwide Soccer Manager 2007 in the US) has knocked FIFA 07 off the top spot in the UK All-Formats game chart--the game came straight in at number one, even though it wasn't supposed to be released this week.

There are a smorgasbord of new entries this week, all but one in the top 20: The Sims 2: Pets enters at number three, Battlefield 2142 storms in at seven, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent arrives at number five, and Destroy All Humans! 2 comes in at number 21.

UK developer Sports Interactive can give itself a pat on the back, because the company can now boast the top three fastest-selling games in the UK (based on the Chart Track panel), namely Championship Manager 4, Football Manager 2006, and Football Manager 2007.

Of course, all the new entries mean that some titles are going to head south--this week these include Scarface: The World Is Yours, down two spots to four; Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, down four places to nine; and Kingdom Hearts II, which sinks a whole 10 slots to 16.

Titles moving upward are few and far between this week--the only rising star in the top 20 is Ubisoft's Open Season, crawling up two spaces to 15. One other upwardly mobile game--The Sims 2: Glamour Stuff--is up two to 26. Cars is still spinning its wheels as the week's only non-mover at number eight.

This week will see the release of Rockstar Games' Canis Canem Edit, better known as Bully in the US. Other games due out include another football title--Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (known as Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 in the US). FIFA 07 is also being released on the Xbox 360, which might give it another bump up the charts. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will be released this week, along with The Sims 2: Pets for the Nintendo DS.
