Though it was reported weeks ago, Namco has officially announced that it has purchased the rights to Street Racing Syndicate from 3DO. The game will continue to be developed by UK-based studio Eutechnyx, and it will be released for multiple platforms. Street Racing Syndicate re-creates the culture and competition of street racing by allowing players to customize cars and place bets on races.

"Purchasing Street Racing Syndicate is a huge win for Namco as we continue to enhance our position in the video games industry," said Nobuhiro Kasahara, president and COO of Namco Hometek. "Together with the talented development team at Eutechnyx, we are confident that SRS will become a triple-A racing title."

Street Racing Syndicate is scheduled for release this fall.
