What a wild ride!! On the edge of my seat until the very end!!

Prototype has to be one of the best experiences in gaming I have had in a long time. You start out with by telling a story to a sympathizer to your cause and battling your way to certain target points while going through a tutorial. When the game really starts, you are wrapped up in a virus infected Manhattan island with not a clue of your purpose or identity, searching for answers in the chaotic and violent city. At first you will start to notice some of the character models are not quite up to par and the textures can vary from bland to great. This has caused some people to drop it and not carry on with the endeavor to complete some of the first missions. Listen, this will all fade when everything starts to get out of control. The missions are interesting and while you are searching out keys to your identity and reason for the madness, you develop powers that make you a demi-god, destroying all foes you encounter.

1. (Game play) Once you start to unleash some of your powers by completing side missions and earning metals, you will travel through the city effortlessly and swiftly by unlocking powers through experience points. This seems a little tedious at first but some of the missions are really fun and entertaining. You can do work for the infected, military, or perform races and stunts to earn points a variety of different ways.

2. (Graphics) At first I said to myself, "this isn't really all that great." You will learn after a few hours in the game that there is a good reason for this. When you have hundreds of enemies hording in on your location without a frame rate drop, you will actually be quite impressed. The mechanics are incredible and you will hardly notice any issues because you will spend all of your time trying to stay alive.

3. (Story) This would make a great movie. Comparable to resident evil with government support, the end was a real twist that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire trip. You gather clues by absorbing enemies with knowledge that unlock keys to your identity.

4. (Controls) If you are a keyboard/mouse kind of player this will work for you. I preferred to use a wired XBOX360 controller that made this ultimately into a clone of the console scheme. Unfortunately, I had to purchase this because of the lack of support for older game pads I currently own.

Overall, this was a good purchase even though the game lacked any multiplayer options. It would have been a great addition but they didn't even bother making one. They do have it open to mod makers to expect to see expansions or additions in the future.
