If I said that this game wasn't the goriest game ever made, I would be lying.
Graphics: I would have to say that the graphics for this game are far above any free roaming game that has come out to date. The visuals are terrific and you will notice how good they are as soon as you start up the game. If its from getting up on the tallest building in the game and looking at the scenery to picking up cars and throwing them at civilians walking down the street, Prototype does not disappoint.
Gameplay: The controls for this game are very straight forward towards the beginning of the single player. However, when you get a little further into the game, and more moves are being unlocked, you will find yourself pausing to see how you do certain moves. Other than that, running up walls, jumping 15 stories in the air, and flying across the sky are pretty straight forward and also very exciting.
Story Line: The story for the single player mode is very well put together. It is riddled with trying to find out who made Alex Mercer a monster to society. To piece together the misfortunes of his life you will have to literally consume a person who has information you need. When I say consume I mean tentacles coming out of Mercer's body and him devouring him (Its pretty sweet), When this happens you will absorb his memories and a little mini video will have to be watched to get closer and closer to the truth. The Gore Factor: This game is by far the most bloody games I have ever played. The farther you get into the game the bloodier it gets. When you get into a crowd of people and turn your hand into a big sword....the fun begins. Bodies getting chopped in half, arms flying off, blood squirting everywhere, thats just your average day at the office in this game. And this isn't one of your lets make the blood and bodies disappear after you kill them, no. You can have a gangly mess of chopped up bodies at your feet before they even think about maybe taking some of it away. To show how gory this game is I will tell you that I cut and person in half vertically and had half his body squirt blood all over the wall for about 10 seconds... Im telling you right now if you dont like blood, dont get this game.
Downfalls: Their are minor downfalls to this games gameplay. Camera views can get a little irritating at times, Vehicle driving is sub-par, and a couple fighting aspects are a little annoying. Fighting other monsters who are stronger than your round of the mill human can get a little testy. You will find them running through your blade just to hit you with devastating attacks. Boss fights are the worse in this aspect. I have found myself just running around them trying to gain health back and throwing objects at them. If you try to close to them and fight, you will LOSE.
Bottom Line is this game is very fun and very gory. Cutting people and half and taking down mobs of people has not got old to me. If you are looking for one of the best free roaming games out right now, I highly suggest getting Prototype for the 360.
