Finally someone deceided to make a zombie survival rpg. And it delivers.

Minecraft introduced the general gaming community to the indie gaming scene, and via that route I ended up learning about Project Zomboid.

Project Zomboid is a topdown 2,5D survival rpg played in a sandbox world. The goal is simply to survive, but when you start playing you realize there is more to this game than just shooting zombies. The game tries to pull you in with emotional dialogue, great music and good looking sprites.

You play as a zombie apocalypse survivor, and upon starting the game you are presented with a decently sized town to explore. Your activities include searching for food and medicine in houses, sneaking or running from zombies, helping or betraying fellow survivor npc's, creating barricades to keep zombies out of your house, crafting weapons and tools, exploring the town and more.

Project Zomboid is currently in early stages of development and a lot more content is on the way. For those interested there is a tech demo available on the game's website. Note that this demo is an even older version of the game with less content than the current release, and lacks a decent tutorial.

Overall PZ is definitely worth getting into if you even remotely like zombies, survival and semi-old skool sprites. Project Zomboid is available for a mere €5,99 or $7,99. This will get you the full game and all future updates and content for free.
