Project Gotham Racing Review

When I got the game Project Gotham Racing at first I was excited! But when I started to play my reaction was a little different then what I have hoped for and experienced. The game lets you choose a location in a lot of places in the world, and the cars are sweet with a huge variety of colors and designs. The tracks are interesting and pretty big for the most part so the races should keep you occupied for a while. Also the amazing out game screens and scenes are just breathtaking! Like when you smash into a truck or a roadside railing your car is wasted and you can really see the damage effects. But it is not to say that the game doesn't have it's problems. At the start of a race, you are already launched and going fast instead of stationary at the starting line, this is a problem because you loose the feel of a good or bad start because everyone is going fast already, but it does add to the sense of urgency when you and your opponent are both going 200 mph at the start of a race! The environment is a bit repetitive and the AI is a bit slow and non-intuitive to respond to your actions and decisions. I also felt that the game is a bit way too fast for average racing games. It seems like you are going way too fast then you should be, and you are also too powerful. You can easily bolt past racers and take an early lead on most races. Ultimately making this game completely not realistic and for the most part does not follow simple physics and realism. You can compare this game to like a big budget hollywood movie with a story that goes nowhere. Some racers might enjoy playing this game but you might as well play Need For Speed, Forza, or Dirt rather then playing Project Gotham Racing. In short if you don't mind the unrealistic gameplay, repetitive environments, and starting off fast in the beginning of the race Project Gotham Racing is the game for you.
