What's with these racing wheel game controllers? Have none of the designers (or indeed anyone at the production companies) ever driven a race-car (or even a road-car)? I was super psyched when I borrowed my friends Microsoft racing wheel for the 360, finally I was going to get a real car-feel from PGR4! I get home and hook up the wheel, and the instant I grab the wheel, I realize that it's a STUPID construction! Don't get me wrong, the grip is great and it looks amazing, but the layout is, again, STUPID.

Okay, to give this some perspective, I have to explain to the people who aren't familiar with driving a car, what I'm talking about. When racing a car, the way you hold the wheel is often explained as gripping it ten to two, I.E. your left hand is on ten o'clock and your right hand is on two o'clock. This means your hands are some way above the horizontal center on the steering wheel. But on these game-controller wheels, ALL the buttons are placed at exactly horizontal center, which means you have to hold quarter to three, which is completely wrong. Either that, or you have to let go of the wheel with one hand to reach the handbreak button. Which is also silly, because the button is ON THE WHEEL, and not on the "dash", so you have to follow the button around when steering. It may not seem like such a big deal, but trust me, it is.

Another thing that's wrong with these controllers are the pedals, which are standing almost straight up, so you have to constantly use muscles to tilt your feet back when not having the pedal to the metal. This isn't the biggest problem though, so I won't elaborate on it.

Anyway, just an annoyed rant from someone who'd like to race other than on race-day without losing his license.

Anyone know if there's a Demo planned for this game in the near future?

Most (if not all) FPS's are "just another shooter". Point and click. That's all there is. Better graphics, better physics, better story, dynamic weather, smarter AI is all just fluff. FPS is FPS. You do the same thing in quake as you do in FC2. Point and click, and occationally lob some explosives.

That said, I'm DEFENENTLY getting Far Cry 2. Mostly because of the level editing capabilities, but also for the open world gameplay. Far Cry 2 seems to be the "serious", good and above all FINISHED version of Mercs 2. The same way that Saints Row 2 is the silly, stupid and poor graphics version of GTA IV.

I don't think you guys read the story very carefully. It also means that while you CAN'T share personal information (about yourself) on the PSN, Sony CAN share YOUR personal information with whomever they like. They can also monitor your usage and activity, and share THIS information with whomever they want, up to and including "the authorities".

Anyone else feel a flutter of apprehension after reading the article about the new PSN Terms of online services?

If you haven't read it, here it is: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6199672.html?tag=latestheadlines;title;3

It seems to me that Sony is covering all its bases, pending something big. Now, that big something may just be Home and LBP, but to me, it feels bigger than that. The "express consent to monitor and record" part and "the user agreement stats that Sony can share gamers' personal information with third parties "for the purpose of providing... access to PSN content."" sure feels highly sinister.

What are you planning Sony?

Anyway, just wanted to get some other perspectives on this, as I have a tendency to assume the worst from companies such as Sony and Microsoft.

Yes, Mercs 2 really is that bad. The controls are horrible, the gunplay is unsatisfactory and the story is uninspired. Probably the only things in this game which is not terrible is the voice-acting.

[QUOTE="emitsu97"]You can but externals won't help you with what you're talking about.hot114

So what does the external drive do? Do you mean "yes, the cable fits in the port"? because I knew that already. :p It is a USB port after all.

If you can't save PSN titles, install games or save game data on it, what will the external drive do?

Movies, pictures, music anything you want save for what you want.

Right. I thought that's what the media center functionality was for.

Why bag out the ps3 cos it cant play ps2 games. Thats silly. I play my ps3 for ps3 games. I play my ps2 for ps2 games. How hard is that.pseudocaesar

Because not everyone wants to have several game-consoles out when only one should suffice. How hard is that to understand?
