Seriously everyone has the right to give his money wherever he wants. The real power is not in Gamespot and its articles but in the hands of the customers. I would never go to Blizzcon, even if I love travelling there are tons of other "real" destinations more appealing to visit. I value most a spaghetti in Florence or a mohito in Cuba, someone however might equally value a beta view in Blizzcon. Plus let's face it, its with people who buy second accounts of SC2, who pay to play WoW and who go to Blizzcon that make Blizzard get the extra cash to complete such polished games. And guess what we get to play these games just for the starting price. On their defense I find it relatively expensive though.

Let people go to Blizzcon, its with their money that Blizzard will finish Diablo 3 so that I can have a polished product in my hands. On a more serious note, I never thought I would live to see the day that the hype for a Blizzard game has turned to hatred because of the extremely long time involved in its completion. In any case when they will reveal release date all hatred will be gone with the wind.

If you want the single player experience then go for it asap. It is more polished than the shoe of a Wall street yuppie. Each faction has some unique bonuses, however you can feel free to play as you want once these bonuses are minor in most cases. Campaign AI is a beast, as Steam stats show that not over 20% of buyers have finished it on easy. Diplomacy, religion, spying all can be easily accessed and controlled by the amazing new UI. The game forces you to be aggressive so if you are one of those players that enjoys turtling maybe this game is not for you. You can still turtle but only for a few turns. Multiplayer on the other hand is half finished, with lots of desynchronizations. Ladder is completely abusable in several ways, which I am too bored to explain now. Stats are recorded with errors quite often. The avatar customization system is amazing and really promising for the following titles. If you got even a single game buddy to play against you should try the multiplayer. As I usually say there are 2 types of strategy players: A+left clickers and Total War players. ps: If you are not sure if you can run it, then download the demo first. And be prepared for a difficult game. It has quite teh learning curve for newcomers. If you are used in steamrolling everything in Rome TW and Medieval TW then you are in for a treat.

One villain to rule them all : Joneleth Irenicus. The exile elf is the only mortal non-Bhaal spawn that managed to cause so much trouble in the Baldur's Gate version of the Forgotten Realms. His personality is cleverly unraveled throughout the entire game. Here is the wiki link: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Jon_Irenicus He also plays a major role in the events to follow as without even realizing it he draws the protagonist into a constant discovery of his divine origin and powers. A slime from Irenicus nose has more depth than any villain from DA:O and DA2.

I remember some developers talking about a game that was to become the spiritual child of Baldur's Gate. Nah, it must have been a good dream.
