My Laptop:

MSI 'gaming' laptop. GeForce GTX 850M, i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz 8GB

System Requirements Lab give it a big N/A for the processor and video card, but I've seem people playing the beta online with these specs (at 720p/30fps). I haven't seen anyone playing the single player campaign official release on these specs though, and I believe the official release has more graphics options than the beta.

I was hoping to run this on my laptop with mouse and keyboard (hooked to my 55 inch tv) but it looks like the PS4 version might perform much better. Not sure about the res but I think the PS4 version runs at 60fps.

I love 2d platformers but Super Meat Boy looks like a massive exercise in frustration to me. I'm just not into controller-chucking retry-a-hundred-times kind of games any more. I loved them during the 16-bit era though :).

I used to have tons of those huge boxes. Unfortunately they've all been since tossed. I really don't miss them however. Remember when games were getting packed with both 5 1/4 and 3 1/2 inch disks when PCs were transitioning into using the 3 1/2" format? You'd wind up with like 10-12 total disks when you'd buy a game! I guess that was less expensive than releasing two versions of the game. My 386 came with both drives built in in 1990 :).

I have a Gamestop branded wired XBox 360 controller that has an excellent D-Pad that I use on my PC. Lately I've been getting into some freeware games such as Cave Story and Laxius Power (both awesome). The problem is that most games seem to want to use the left thumb stick rather than the D-Pad on the controller. Obviously these games were made with a D-Pad in mind so they can be a pain to play with the thumb stick (sometimes it's tough to walk in a straight line :) ). Is there an OS level (I have Vista 64 bit) way to re-map the thumb stick to the D-Pad? I've searched the system and if there is I must be missing it. If not is there some kind of program I can download? I'd rather not download something for it bit I will if I have to.

Games are supposed to be fun - that level looks like a complete and total PITA.

Horrible pathfinding. In God of War II I often have to consult a walkthrough to tell me to jump into the random looking background art....... but the games so great I push through.

I have to agree... Sometimes finding the way to move on is literally like looking for a needle in a haystack... Challenging sometimes but not very fun.

There are a lot of filler/annoying play mechanics in games. Which ones do you just tolerate to move on to the good parts? A few for me: Balance beam/tiptoeing in the rafters in games like God of War. Also in games like GOW the simon-says button combos to finish off bosses and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome inducing rapid-fire button pressing. Countless driving from point A to point B missions in sandbox games like GTA. Also the missions where you have to chase someone down and stay close or you'll lose the mission. ANY swimming under water levels in games (especially when you have a time limit under water). I have never once enjoyed one but I will play through to get back on land. Any others?

[QUOTE="texasgoldrush"][QUOTE="RyuRanVII"]

Final Fantasy VI deserves the first position. No other game of the series did eveything right and with great quality and creativity: gameplay, story, characters, soundtrack and graphics.

I agree with almost everything else. I think Final Fantasy IV should be the second and Final Fantasy VII the third. Final Fantasy X should be the eleventh, just before Final Fantasy XI. The lack of a world map was the stupidest idea ever.

The seventh game is the best...in the Ultima series...lol

True my friend. Ultima VII: The Black Gate is not only the best in the series, but it's the best game of all time in my opinion.

Have you played Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar? Where do you rank that one? I admit I never played VII though :(
