i think this game is worth 50$ easy. especially compared some alot of linear action games that people pay 50$ for then play for 20-30 hours and forget about... this game has some major replay value and some really fun multiplayer games.

This review is what ive come to expect from gs. its a wii game with no guns or blood, so naturally its 7.0 which isnt a bad score, but they spend way more time making up irrelevant flaws with a game than commending its qualities. i bought this game last night, and played it for several hours with my fiance, and we had a blast! the game is easy to understand but has deep gameplay, and the controls are responsive. its eeverything a wii game should be.

dont let 3rd party publishers trick you by twisting nintendos philosephy around. nintendo does preach gameplay over graphics, but what passes for graphics most of the time on wii is pretty shamefull. I dont really care all that much except that if you can make a game that both looks and plays excellent, then that should be the goal. instead of games that play decent and look extremely lackluster. i wouldnt even say that wii games look bad, because they dont. I just want to see developers push the hardware a little more.

first of all the game looks excellent compared to anything any 3rd party has come up with so far, and secondly you all seem to be missing the point of this game completly. They're trying raise the bar for production values in wii games. As soon as a few 3rd party companies make games that truly look and play beautifully on the wii, its going to get harder and harder for everyone else to just slide by.

The fact that this is a shooter is the only part of the project that im not really excited about. This is mainly because i think that the market is completely saturated with them already... but if thats what is going to sell more power to 'em. As long as the quality of the rest of the project matches what they have put into the graphics engine so far i will be buying this game for sure. Even if its only because i think its important to show the big publishers that there is a market for great looking games with a "mature" audience feel on the wii.

[QUOTE="thewwwyzzerdd"]

having already said my previous post, i would like to say that i agree that nintendo should continue making the games we know and love. i have not seen any major "harcore" game be dumbed down for the casual audience yet... i think there were plenty of serious smash and kart fans that will be happy to see wavedashing and snaking go, i know i will... i have been have alot of fun with fire emblem which was definatley not dumbed down, and metroid as well. its true that nintendo has been putting out alot of casual stuff, but this has not stopped them from continueing to make excellent competetive games that should be more than enough to cater to the hardcore audience, and have them play well enough as not to alienate the casual audience...

also i think that people need to lighten up, remember that no all videogames have to be competetive, or obsenely difficult for them to be good... they only have to be fun

mrjam0

there's only one problem i have with what ur saying. true titles of 07 werent watered down, but those were single player games. im worried that nintendo will simplify their muliplayer games just because they're going online.

if ur wondering y i keep refering t to multiplayer, its becasue i personally love nintendo's because they're simple yet difficult at the same time, i dont want just simple

AND USE THE QOUTE BOTTON DAMN IT! I DONT KNOW WHO UR TALKING TO!!

lol i was more making general statements in response to your post, than repying directly to you, once again i think for the most part we are on the same page... i just havent seen any evidence yet of watered down multiplayer online games... ive only really seen improvements... mario kart ds was great online, except when it became that you couldnt win a race without having to learn how to snake... so nintendo removed snaking, thus making it fun again. i have high hopes for nintendos online multiplayer... i think that with the additional potential of the pay to play service nintendo's online could soon be a force to be reckoned with

Mrjam0: im not so sure that we are disagreeing here, my point is only that if all the hardcore crowd is going to do is piss and moan when nintendo tries to improve the quality of their games by making them less exploitable and and more balanced, im not sure that ninendo should waste its time catering to such a hostile elitist, and not to mention ungratefull audience.

i dont mean to keep reiterating my point, but im just so confused... since when did gamers especially "hardcore" gamers stop liking competition... having a more balanced playing field means that there will be more competetive players... and it will be harder to really make yourself stand out as a skilled player, harder but it can be done. if you are so concerned with your status as a hardcore player, maybe you should spend more time learning the tracks in mario kart, or learning your character in smashbros than looking for an exploit that automatically makes you better than a large percentage of less informed players...

I think i now despise any gamer that refers to themselves as "hardcore" then whines about great games being made better by rules that even the playing field... if you were really that harcore you wouldnt need snaking or wavedashing to beat a casual player

skill should be the factor that separates a hardcore gamer from a casual... not their ability to exploit minor glitches and imperfections in the games design

ATTENTION MODERATORS: READ ENTIRE POST TO GET THE MAIN POINT. THIS IS NOT A SSBB THREAD AS ONE OF U PENALIZED ME THINKING IT WAS ONE.

ok. for those of u who read any reviews on ssbb, u might have come across the fact that wave dashing has been removed from the game. it is persumed that nintendo did this because since this game is online capable, and the fact that there are so many casuals that own a wii, wanted to give casuals the edge so that they wont be overwelmed by those who use wave dashing. also, if u've been following up on the mario kart SEE MODERATORS! NOT A SSBB THREAD updates, similar to wave dashing, snaking has been removed from the game. its the same case here, mario kart wii is also going to be online capable and that it is sure that many casuals will be playing it.

i for one dont care, as SSBB has recieved a 9.5 by ign, and mario kart has never failed to be enjoyable, even with out snaking. but it is clear that nintendo is paying more attention to casuals as they are taking out features that was commonly used by the hardcore. so i ask u this, do u thnk that this will be a trend that nintendo is going to continue thoughout thier games? and if so, do u think that it'll ruin the experience?

(i would like to hear about other muliplayer games, and any ideas of what nintendo will do with them)

mrjam0

these topics are getting really old... wave dashing and snaking were not advanced techniques... they were flaws in the game mechanics that gamers exploited to gain an edge in competition... and both of which made the game less fun, and ALOT more tiring for all thumbs involved... i hated playing mario kart online, because snaking doesnt even feel like playing a racing game anymore... it takes all of the concentration away from having good technique like keeping the inside track, and drafting and such... and dont even get me started on wave dashing, or the melee tourney elitist crap...
