Eh, I'd rather watch a real sport like boxing (yea, I said it)...but it can be entertaining at times.

Yeah sure, you want to believe that then awesome

If you think all that is somehow worth your time and doing so prevents me from ever having to do it then sure, you're just the kind of person they're looking for

Jaysonguy

This...this called ignorance. Pay it no mind, he has no idea what he's talking about.

Facts you mean

You join ANY branch of the service and that's your contract that says when the county wants you you respond

They want you in the fight you're in the fight

One of the oldest lines of recruiters is "oh no, you'll never see action, unless you want to of course (enter sinister laugh here)"

The idea of me signing over my rights so someone can have me shot at for something I may not agree with does not sound like a good choice as far as I'm concerned

All depends on your MOS...do you know how many different MOSs there are? A cook isn't going on the front line anytime soon, same with JAG, Quartermaster, Civil Affairs, Finance Corps, ect.

If you choose a combat or combat support MOS like I did, then yeah, your going to see some action sooner or later...but that's what we signed up for.

God no, low pay AND getting shot at?

That's like one of the worst ideas I'd ever have

I mean you want to do so I don't have to? Feel free, more power to you

I have a very strict "anyone can go join the service so I may enjoy the comfy cozy niceness of home" policy

Jaysonguy

Not everyone gets shot at. I know at least 5 people very well that have joined the military, marines and navy, and have never seen action in almost 5 years of service. In fact, only one of them has ever left the states for more than a week, and that's because he's stationed in Japan by choice.

I don't see why everybody thinks it's "Military or College"...I chose both. Love being in the Army and love being a college student.

jubino

That's what I was wanting to do possibly. My plan was to use the college credits I have, enlist, and then finish school during my duty if I could.

You're going to want to go Reserve then, then go active duty once you're done with school(If you want to go active that is). That's what I'm doing...

[QUOTE="duxup"] Hire a lawyer for that? It is hardly worth doing that to fight some wussy charge on a minor. That would cost far more than it is worth.duxup

Actually being charged as a minor is more serious than you think these days...for example, when I was enlisting for the military they looked at my COMPLETE background, even charges as a minor and things that were "sealed" and expunged. (Good thing I had a squeaky clean record)

She can get in the military just fine ;) At this rate maybe even do some field work for the CIA as an agent...

lol, you may be right...But I still would fight it (easy win) just to maintain a clean record.

She was arrested for lying to the police. You know, obstruction of justice charges.

gameguy6700

Completely asinine if you ask me.

Yeah, butt she was a dumbass for doing what she did.

Seriously though, this incident shows why paddling needs to be brought back to schools. Not because I think it would have stopped this incident from even occuring, but rather because had the teacher paddled her after she stashed her phone away this story would be nothing short of epic win.

No, it's not the teachers job to teach the student how to act. People act like teachers are the second parent, they are there to teach, not to be the disciplinarian. And you would feel okay letting someone else hit your child?

[QUOTE="thebosshank"]Really? Arresting her for texting? What's the crime? "Lying that you had a cell phone"? That's ridiculous, any 2 bit lawyer can get her off. I agree on some detention, maybe suspension...but being arrested? I've been busted texting in class when I was in high school, it's really not that serious.duxup
