[QUOTE="Whiteblade999"]

[QUOTE="flipin_jackass"]I played it with a friend last week when he showed me. I liked it. I tried it on my PC earlier this week, but it kept crashing due to driver conflict. Now I've reformatted my PC and I'm re-downloading. Here's hoping it works! I sucked at DoTA though, but I'm hoping to be at least slightly better at this one.Shadowhawk000

Play the free recommended heroes like Annie and ask your friend for build orders. Stay away from heroes like Ashe or Trist because they rely on positioning and killing creeps to get items. Oh, and don't take the summoner skill Revive.

The best aspect of the game is how easy it is to get into. My friend who has a muscle disorder that causes very delayed reflexes can play at a decent enough level to have fun so you should be fine with some practice.

Good luck to you.

Lol postioning and creep killing must be so difficult for LoL players....

Umm yeah it could be if the player is new to the game...

What's your budget? There are some laptops that are passable as gaming rigs, as long as you don't expect maxed out graphics and such but they will run current games. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101230 is a decent example.

Any size limitations? Is battery life a problem? Any brands you dislike? Theres the Asus N61JQ-X1 on newegg for $1080 and it should game pretty well. It has an i7-720m, HD5730, and 4 gb of ram. It's also not too big at 16" but I heard it has a low battery life. Unfortunately there resolution is only 1366x768.

Oh I see so that rules out having an external GPU... Well although I also hate having notes on paper I don't quite find myself ready to give up gaming entirely. I think for now I'll stick to pen and paper since that's what I've been doing all my life anyways and get something with a little more power than a touch laptop.

Yeah I don't expect playing games with amazing detail and resolutions but I don't want to lug my desktop to college with me, especially since my dorm will be super cramped as is. But is it possible to use a desktop GPU on a laptop? By like using an external cable or something?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the Toshiba is too large for my tastes since I'll be lugging it around with me a lot. The Asus seems pretty nice, though slightly on the large side, but more importantly some of the reviews say that it has heating problems and a short battery life, both of which make it a hard sale for me so I think I'm going to keep them off my list.

So I'm about to go to college and I've saved up some money for a laptop. It's going to be mainly used for school work but of course I'd like to be able to game a little bit too. I don't expect to max out all the newest games but I'd like something that can handle current games (specifically TF2, SC2, and BFBC2) at decent resolutions and settings. However since I plan to carry it around a lot I'd prefer something that's not too big, so that rules out 17" desktop replacements. Currently I am thinking about the HP Envy 14. It has a ATi HD5650, 4gb of RAM, and will be running Windows 7. My question is which CPU should I get? I've been looking around and I'm not entirely sure if the upgrade from the i3-370m to an i5-450m is worth it. I'll probably wait for some kind of sale or discount before I purchase but I am also open to any suggestions you guys may have but I'd like to keep the budget around $1,000. Thanks in advance!
