@mdk12345: Well it's probably cause most games coming out on the PS4 now look amazing.

I think Destiny is a decent shooter in comparison to most shooters available at the moment.

It's not really cartoonish, but it's clearly made by the same people that made Halo - that's for sure.

The lack of games is obvious.

um... Bloodborne, Little Big Planet 3, The Order 1886, Uncharted 4 - are just some of the exclusives coming out for PS4.... Let's not forget about nonexclusive PS4 games like: The Division, The Evil Within, Shadow of Mordor, Dying Light and so on...

So there's plenty of games coming out. I would prefer them to come out slowly - that way I actually have time to play the games and always have new games to buy.

As of games currently available - Destiny is one of the big ones. Clearly game companies don't want to release new titles at the same time as other games. More competition - less likely to be bought. Plus it gives them time to increase the hype of the game.

No. I didn't see Dying Light, The Order, or Uncharted 4. These games haven't been out forever. Question. Will Dying Light look anywhere as good as the preview?

Dying Light should look just as good as the preview, especially from this gameplay footage.

It's been gaining hype since E3. They mentioned at E3 that Dying Light would have a strong emphasis on role-playing. But at the same time from what I've gathered there's only one 'main character' so not really sure how co-op is going to work.

Official Dying Light Forum by Techland FAQ's:

What can you tell us about the player character? Will there be different characters to choose from? Will there be a female character?

Dying Light’s story is about a specific character, a character whose background and personality will heavily affect the happenings in the quarantine zone. Because of that, we had to create that character. His name is Kyle Crane, and through our story we will closely follow the impact he will have on the city of Harran, and the influence of Harran changing him.

I think we're just aging.

When I was a kid, gaming was more or less strange. Only the nerdy anti-social kids did it. Heck it was almost rare, because not everyone had a desktop in their home nor could afford a console.

Kids now want new things, fast. The sad thing is, it's not just kids anymore. Adults too. I mean why else is Apple releasing a new phone, with more or less the same specs, every year? And people - adults - still buy it.

Why are there over 10 games for Call of Duty? There's over 10 games for Assassin's Creed as well. Both these franchises, in my opinion, stopped being good 8 games ago, at least. The first Assassin's Creed wasn't very good to begin with - it was repetitive, but when it came out it was something unique, different to all the other games around.

I think previously - the game industry wasn't about making money. (Yes it was still about earning a profit, but that's essentially what all jobs are about). People in the game industry loved games - simple as that. Now gamers can become world-known celebrities and make millions simply by playing a game. Game CEO's are like rockstars and are well-known. Heck, even phone company CEO's are celebrities now.

In my opinion, all these individuals have dirtied something that used to be very pure. It used to be about enjoying a game, creating something to be proud of. Now it's all about maximizing profits, hence you get a franchise with over 10 games. They release the games every year - like expected, but none of them really do anything different.

You get games like Dead Island which was unique when it came out, but because they rushed it - it was released with a broken co-op system. You could literally not play co-op on Dead Island (which is one of the main aspects of the game they advertised), even months after the release of the game! What did the game developer/publisher do about it? Nothing. They didn't even seem to care - just ignored it.

I find it quite interesting in that sense to compare the West with Asia. When Final Fantasy XIV was released, it completely flopped. What did the Japanese creator(s) do? Make a public apology to the players who spent money on a game that was incomplete - and the CEO stepped down because of it, voluntarily! The CEO was replaced and they announced a new version of the game (A Realm Reborn) would be released. The gamers who bought the first one - got the new version FOR FREE.

I completely understand your nostalgia about old games, even the ones that weren't very good. I feel like creators put more heart and soul into games before. I mean one of my favorite games to this day is Crazy Taxi Driver for the Dreamcast and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for N64.

Sadly there is nothing that can be done about it, other than try and get used to how things are now. (And be nostalgic and collect old games).

I've still got floppy disks with games on them. XD

This month Destiny came out, the newest game from Bungie. No sane game company is going to say 'Oh, let's try and rival Bungie with our own game and release it in the same month as Destiny.' Not a good business plan to try and increase sales by spending millions on advertisement, only to have your game launch in the same month and be overshadowed by a game such as Destiny.

Sony & Microsoft should merge to become a super company - called Micony or Sonmic or best yet MICSON. That would be awesome.

@KHAndAnime: I think the actual game is quite realistic. Of course not in the aspect that it's zombie/plant type of creatures you're mostly fighting. There's some games out there that are more gory for sure. But I still wouldn't let a kid play this game. And I wouldn't describe the game as cartoonish. But that's my personal opinion.

Quite frustrated with not being able to play Destiny offline, especially as my internet is useless on weekends.

Forces me to try and play Monday to Friday when I don't actually have the time.

I tried to play Destiny yesterday (Friday night), just wasn't possible. (Maybe cause I had two PS4's hooked up on the same internet).
I'm surprised they have forced an internet connection, even to play solo?...

If you're going to try and give this game to a 14 year old - I would say don't. It's rated "Mature" for a reason. Although to be honest I think some shooters, like Gears, is more gory. But Last of Us is more realistic I would say.

One of the most brutallly violent games in the last 10 years.

Not particularly, I can think of a couple of dozen games more violent than this. The game is violent but it's a bit cartoonish and there's nothing particularly bloody, gorey, or brutal about it. It's like a PG-13 movie or TV-14 show. Outlast, for example, is way more grossly violent.

How is it cartoonish?....Outlast is a horror game though, so that's going to be grossly more violent and gory for a scare factor.

Level 4?

I think they are trying to encourage people to do everything, or as much as possible, co-op. I have been doing everything co-op and found it very fun. Even with two people, we would put the level of the mission up to hard and it was still manageable without dying. But so far we have only done the storyline missions. I'll get back to you when we're doing other things.
Has anyone else been running into random high level bosses? Just out of the blue? I'd be exploring only to die in one hit because of high leveled enemies (which most likely was a mini boss of some sort).

I'm level 3 or 4 but have been having issues with getting disconnected which is totally killing my otherwise great destiny experience. My internet sucks and there is no other better available so I just have to deal I guess.

Are you playing on PS4? Cause if you are, it might be your NAT settings on your PlayStation 4.
I was playing co-op with my boyfriend and he kept being kicked out of the Fireteam (and our current game). Turns out he was being kicked because of his PS4 NAT settings.

@kingcrimson24: Thanks for the feedback! You're probably right about the NAT settings. It seemed to sort itself out after the settings were tweaked.

I agree that there are benefits to no trading, even if I didn't mention them in my short review. Avoiding the hoarding of rare items which are given to low level players that don't deserve it. I think they could implement a system where you can only trade armor/weapons with a person the same level as you. I think that could help minimize the 'hoarding' possibility of noobs obtaining rare items without deserving it.

I'm sure they will be implementing a trade system of some sort eventually. With the sheer size of the game and things to do - it's understandable they didn't prioritize trading.

Yes, I have played Borderlands and the game play is smooth like Borderlands, but you have to agree that it gives you a feeling of Halo and Mass Effect. Or it might be the whole universe/space thing that does it for me.

I haven't had the proper time to play uninterrupted but will try this weekend. It really is looking nice!
