Why I like the ending, and what it means to me
I believe that it should be taken into the idea of the 'indoctrination' theory. It is a wonderfully crafted story and ending. Epic and tragic. I believe that what the theme is through the series are not what effect your choices your actions have, but the fact you make them. If the indoctrination theory is right, it brought a great twist on that aspect. Your have clear perceived choices in the game, good or bad. What you think will have a negative or positive outcome through the series does not always happen that way. ME3's ending changes this. In the end your perceived choice is twisted and manipulated, you're given ideas (indoctrinated) into choosing what you think is good, but it actually may be the wrong one, what you think will have a positive or negative effect is changed and has a 'mass effect' on the galaxy. However, if you take the series as a whole the fight against the Reapers has been about indoctrination. From Saren, to the Collectors to the Illusive Man.Whether people have been able to fight, or be controlled by the Reapers. The story has been about Shepard's fight. What choices he makes, what people he encounters. The end to me then has to be seen in an individualistic way. In the end you either win or lose, you either resist or are controlled by the reapers. Thats what it means to me anyway. I might be wrong.
